Guest Post- Robot Spaghetti Recipe

Being a SAHM I am always looking for fun things to try with my boys (5 and 3)! They both like the idea of helping me cook- so I try to find as many things as I can that allow them to do that, plus it makes meal preparations easier for ME if they aren't bored!!

We recently tried this one and it was a big hit!! My 3 year old was asleep so he didn't get to try it =(
My 5year old named this one:
 Robot Spaghetti

What you need:
1 package of spaghetti noodles (you won't need to use the whole package, just a handful of noodles or so- how much you actually use depends on you/your child)
1 package of hot dogs (again, use as many or little as you want)
 Boiling water
1 BIG pot!

 Here's What We Did:
1.) Cut up the hot dogs. Break Spaghetti noodles in half (optional, but suggested!) *You can choose how big the pieces are, we did ours a little bigger by cutting the hot dogs in 1/3's but you could also cut them thinner.

step 1

2.) Set out two plates for your child, one with the hot dogs, one with the spaghetti noodles 3.) Now they are going to push the noodles into the hot dogs! Let them use their creativity! My 5 year old kept saying that they looked like either octupus' or robots (hence the name!)

step 2

4.) Once they are done with their "robot hotdogs", you have to boil them! *this is where the BIG pot comes in!! We had a hard time fitting all of my son's robots in the pot, so we had to do them one at a time!

step 3

5.) Let boil for about 7 minutes, or until spaghetti is fully cooked

6.) ENJOY!!

All done!! Robot Spaghetti!

Some Other options: We've thought of some toppings for our robots too! You could use a mac and cheese packet and top them with cheese (I like this one!!!), use marinara sauce, eat them plain, or even eat them how my 5 year old like them: with butter and parmasean cheese (that's how he eats his spaghetti)

Do you have a different topping idea? Share it with us!!
