Princess Daisy Mae Jasmine- What's in a Name?

We used to have a dog named Daisy.  We do not have her anymore because she had a heart murmur at 1 years old, and we didn't have the funds to give her all the medical attention she needed.  We found a friend of a Vet who would get all of Daisy's medical needs taken care for free.  It was a hard decision but we guessed it would be best for Daisy if she could get all the medical attention she needed.  There are days I really miss her.  She would have been so good with the kids, and they would have loved her.

I picked the name for her.  In my heart, I always knew that I wanted a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Daisy.  I got this idea after seeing Lady and the Tramp as a child and then researching spaniels. I saw a picture of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and my heart melted.  Daisy was at the tip of my tongue immediately for a possible name.  Before we ever picked out a puppy, I knew it had to be a girl because the puppy had to get named Daisy.  I wasn't going to be happy with a puppy with any other name.  I told my husband that if he wanted a boy dog then we could get one later because we had to have a Daisy first.

Daisies are my absolute favorite kind of flower; they are so pretty.  To me a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is the prettiest dog in the world so she had to have the prettiest name.  We thought about actual baby girls names but we knew we wanted children so we weren't going to name the dog a name we would like to name a daughter one day.  We couldn't have a dog and a daughter with the same name; that wouldn't work and would be really confusing.  In my opinion the most beautiful dog's name is Daisy.  It just evokes good feelings and happiness to me.  I think of beautiful sunshine, flowers, and warmth.

A lot of times I would call her Daisy Mae because I am a southern girl, and it just rolls off my tongue.  And of course, elegant dogs need full names so it was Princess Daisy Mae Jasmine.  Daisy definitely lived out her Princess name; she was a little princess and the center of the house (before kids).  The Jasmine came from Princess Jasmine in Aladdin.  That is such a great movie.  I am a huge Disney fan!  I felt she fit her name.  I don't know if she was so much the elegant dog she looks like though; she was a little clumsy especially at full run.  Princess Daisy Mae Jasmine was a beautiful girl and, oh so sweet.  The name fit her good nature and solid pedigree.  Daisy was full breed but we never got papers on her or anything.  It wasn't important to us to have the papers.  We wanted a good family pet and that she was.  We will never forget about the time that Princess Daisy Mae Jasmine was in our house; she will forever be in our hearts.

I am sharing this story about my dear pet as a part of the “What’s in a Name?” Campaign hosted by DogFenceDiy, the invisible fence alternative. DogFenceDiy believes all pets, no matter the name, deserve a safe and happy life!

Our danes name full name is Dutchess Imahna Azi of Mason Manor. I'm right there with ya!

I will say I hate that it is so expensive to care for our four legged friends. Stupid, if you ask me.

I'm sorry that you had to make such a difficult decision but it sounds like one that helped Daisy to live a longer and fuller life! I'm glad you have great pictures and memories!
