Ring in the new year

Welcome to the first Social Media Snapshot of 2022! In addition to ringing in the New Year, Wizarding World alumni have published articles on Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.

Back to Hogwarts got everyone talking, including those who appeared on the special. To celebrate the special’s release on New Years Day, Emma Watson shared the movie poster for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and a photo of her and Daniel Radcliffe on the set of the last two Potter movies.

Tom Felton also shared some behind-the-scenes photos. He posted a few snaps from the first film on his Twitter and hoped his followers enjoyed the reminiscing as much as he did.

Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) graced the occasion with a photo of him and Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) while encouraging fans to honor “the spirit of the boy who lived” and support Afghan refugees.

Oliver Phelps (George Weasley) shared an image from the Back to Hogwarts special highlighting the mislabeling of himself and his brother, James (Fred Weasley), with the playful caption “I guess after all these pranks over the years, someone decided to take revenge.” (Don’t worry, Phelps fans – we hear the error has now been fixed!)

He wasn’t the only one who thought it was funny. Matthew Lewis, Tom Felton, and Afshan Azad (Padma Patil) all shared their fun in the comments to Oliver’s post.

Oliver wasn’t the only alumnus who shared a playful take on Back to Hogwarts. David Thewlis, who plays Remus Lupine, unfortunately did not appear in the special. Instead, he used his Instagram to share a humorous (and quite possibly false) take on why he was missing.

In addition to enjoying the Back to Hogwarts special, the alumni of the Wizarding World ring the new year. The first is Matthew Lewis, who got off to an unconventional (and slightly painful) start until 2022.

Afshan Azad (Padma Patil) shared a heartwarming reel of all the moments that made her special in 2021.

In what has become a New Years tradition, Anna Shaffer (Romilda Vane) shared her list of goals for the coming year.

Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) is on tour with The Magical Music of Harry Potter – Live in Concert. Returning home for the holiday season, he took a moment to wish his subscribers a Happy New Year with a behind-the-scenes photo from the tour.

Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown) gathered some photos that captured her in 2021 and revealed that her New Years resolution is “eat more carrot cake.”

Away from the nostalgia and New Years celebrations, James Phelps got us excited for the year ahead with some behind-the-scenes photos from the set of an episode of his new travel show. This episode will feature Game of thrones star Maisie Williams, who joins the twins on a trip to St. Lucia.

That’s it for our first Social Media Snapshot of 2022! Check back in two weeks to see what some of your favorite Wizarding World alumni have been up to.
